If you have a car, chances are you know a mechanic. You have someone you can call on to fix any problems you have. You know where their shop is located. There’s a decent chance that you’ve built up a positive working relationship with them, have a rapport that makes things go smoothly.
What you may not have is a mobile mechanic. First, let’s go over the obvious question. What in the world is a mobile mechanic?
One thing to note before we answer is that the service industries of the world are becoming more client-centred. More and more of them are willing to make “house calls,” whereas this was considered a luxury service in the old days.
With that in mind, it’s easier to explain what a mobile mechanic is. They’re an auto mechanic that can come over to your location to perform some of their services. Not all of them, though. Certain tasks require specialised tools that just cannot be put on the road.
This may not seem like much, but stop for a moment and think. How many times have you wondered what you’d do if the car had a problem in the middle of the road? How often do you find yourself not willing to drive because it might make an existing problem worse?
How many times would it have been better if your mechanic could come over to your garage and fix things?
Mobile mechanics will show up at a location of your choosing. They’ll come at a time that is convenient for you. They’ll go over your vehicle and check on its condition, making repairs if possible. Depending on the extent or nature of the damage, you might just need to wait for them to finish.
If you’re busy at work, this is a good option. You can have them show up and get to work in the parking lot of your office as you work, rather than having to arrange for alternate transport while the vehicle is in the shop.
If the damage is the sort that makes it worrisome to drive, you can just call them over to your home when convenient for you.
A mobile mechanic is still a fully-trained mechanic. They still use the same tools and bring the same level of professionalism and competence to the job. In case the problem is too extensive, they’ll still recommend bringing it into the shop for better servicing.
The only difference is that they will come over to your location. In other words, it’s a sound plan to have a mobile mechanic’s number or information handy. Any service you can get from a mechanic or roadside assistance is available from a mobile mechanic.
Of course, there are a few minor benefits to this, too.
Think about it. No more needing tow trucks to get a breakdown to the shop, since the crew will come to you. That takes away the worry of the towing doing more damage to your vehicle. The peace of mind alone is usually sufficient reason to keep a crew on speed dial.
